There are multiple processes in the oil and gas industries that require significant amounts of water.  The treatment of this water presents a critical challenge that must be met my technology that is both cost and energy efficient.  Synder Filtration’s unique line of nanofiltration and ultrafiltration membrane and systems can be used to treat this water with incredible efficiency.  The oil & gas industries are depended on to power the global economy and Synder Filtration is proud to offer technology to keep these industries productive and environmentally friendly.   

OUR MOST COMMON APPLICATIONS 
Coal Bed Methane (CBM) 
In the production of CBM, a tremendous amount of water is produced. Proper treatment or disposal of this water is a significant challenge, but it also creates opportunities for additional fresh water supplies.  Synder’s iSep Ultrafiltration technology can be utilized to treat CBM water streams for disposal or further processing via Synder’s NFX Nanofiltration membranes.  The iSep has unique suspended solids management capabilities that make it the ideal choice for CBM water streams, while the NFX membrane can product an extremely high effluent quality at much lower operating costs than reverse osmosis processes.  

Oil Drilling 
When oil is difficult to extract from an oil well special techniques can be implemented. One method is to pump a solution of water & specially developed polymers into the well to bring the oil to the surface. Synder’s NFX membrane and iSep system can be used to purify the water used in the solution. The polymers can also be reclaimed and concentrated using one of Synder’s MF/UF membranes depending on polymer size and structure. 

Ethanol Production 
With ethanol production on the rise, fermentation plants are being established all over the world. Synder’s wide range of Ultrafiltration membranes can be implemented in multiple processes within the production of ethanol. An Ultrafiltration system can be used to filter the fermentation broth and it can also be used in the final clarification of the product. Synder filtration maintains a wide array of Ultrafiltration systems which can be custom built to meet specific requirements.
